Save the Dates

I told you guys I was going to show you my Save the Dates! I just posted the invites over on Mind-Speaks.com, for those who don’t know – Mind Speaks is a collab blog with my sisters. We three post monthly on different projects.

So May was my month and I decided to show my save the dates – my Canon Rebel XT (EOS 350D) just turned 10 years old and died right after taking our engagement pictures! Weird, I have had that camera since I was 17! It lasted so many years and was really my favorite item I owned. I am torn if I should repair it or buy a new one? So these pictures of the Save the Date were taken by my iphone ;o; I think I have to wait until wedding payments are over and I will get a new camera. ANYWAY – here are my save the dates. Hope you like them!

Outer paper was made out of Paper Bag, inside is printed on Soft White Cover and tied together with bakers twine. I also perforated the outer paper so guests could have fun opening the invite! My sister Kim sewed each one with teal thread!!! Amazing sister! My fiance and sisters helped me construct all 80 invites! So thanks to them for the hard work!!

Now, here is a preview of the wedding invitation I am working on. It is in the preliminary stages so it might change through out this week.

I guess personally I would repair it.. since it has so many sentimental values already. 🙂

Omg those are so pretty~! Kudos on choosing that teal and floral theme, they look so elegant. Btw, did you draw on that pinwheel? It looks so personal xD

You make me wanna get married so I can go make creative invites and save-the-dates xD

@Jessica, It was a stamp – I just embossed it XD!!!! Thanks so much I was worried it might have been too many things all at once. We picked pinwheel theme for a good reason. My finance’s litter sister died when he was young – she was only 13 months. When he would visit her grave he would bring her a pinwheel to place on her grave site – so this is kind of a homage to his sister ;o;!!

Oh no, sorry to hear that your camera died D= I sent my DSLR to Canon for repair recently actually. You have to pay for the shipping, but they’ll do a free estimate for you. If you don’t want to repair it, they’ll just send it back. (Though, getting a shiny new camera would be fun too XD)

Wow, I love your Save the Dates! They’re really pretty and looks like you have a lot of your personal touches on it 😀 Your invites are looking great too! (By the way, have you seen people shorten “Save the Dates” to “STDs”? I kept seeing it on wedding forums, and it sounds so wrong to me, lol.)

@Cat, I got quoted 300 for the repairs but they say since it is old it might only prolong its life for another 2-3 years tops. I think the newer version of my camera is like half its price. This one was 900 and I think they are about 400-500 for the basic rebel….?

Thanks so much ;o; I was really debating if they were too much, or too cheesy. If people would like to tear them open or be confused!

I HAVE see the STDs! ROFL I don’t get it…. just spell it out. Typing out STDs just in this comment is strange enough let alone on a wedding forum!!! *dies*

    !!!

I really love how the invitations/save-the-date look. They look so unique and adorable at the same time. I don’t think I’ve seen anything like it yet, so the style looks pretty original to me. 🙂

@tiff, Thank you so much ;ooooo; I wanted something fun and interactive…. but I didn’t realize tweaking the first one was so much work!! After I finished I was like “Ok that is 1 out of…..80” -____-!! Thank god for my bridemaids and their help!

Oh I’m sorry about what happened to your camera. I think you’re lucky enough that it lasted a decade with you. It’s rare for gadgets to last that long, I think. I’d personally repair it for the sake of preserving it but getting a new might be a better option and still keep the old one.

I like how your save the dates and invitation look. Really pretty and neat. I admire your sister’s stitching work.

@Pam, it is very rare for one of my electronics to last so long! I miss using a real camera,my iPhone doesn’t cut it ;-;!! I am debating the repairs will only extend the camera’s life for a couple of years but it might be worth it!

Her stitch work really helped bring the save the dates together!!! I’m thankful for her help and her sewing machine.

Aww, sorry to hear what happened to your camera 🙁 10 years is a long time, and it seems like you’re quite attached to it, so I would try to fix it if you can.
Your engagement photos are lovely! And I love the details of your save-the-date cards, they look great!

    @Jenny, It is the longest living electronic thingy that I have ever owned!! It had a great run and took soo many pictures! I hope to either fix it or replace it ;o;

Thank you so much!!!I was worried they were too much – but I think I am happy with the outcome.

Can I steal your idea? No? Ok..just wondering.

This is amazing. I’m always looking for inspiration for invites and stuff.
It looks really good and for my wedding, I wish someone would help me stitch stuff together too.
I thought I remember replying here but I guess not??

aww I think it’s best to save up to buy a new camera 🙂 It’ll be worth it. I’ve never owned a camera for 10 years before, so I’m really impress with how your camera lasted for so long.

    Adorable pictures btw.
