Miyavi coming back to Houston

Who knew that Miyavi would come back after so many years ago? I used to follow visual kei and jrock heavy back in the day. I even help create one of the popular vk news site back in 2006-2012. I fell out of vk after I got married but still went to local lives to bands who would visit Texas cons, like Nightmare!

I have some friends who are super excited about Miyavi coming back to Houston so and I just bought my ticket to the show! Its going to be fun!

I miss the old days when I knew most vk bands who were in the scene, now there are so many new groups who are way younger than me! I miss those old livejournal days, with graphics, music and all friends who wrote in online journals waaaaay before the coined term “blog”.

Dang, I haven’t listened to Miyavi in a long time. Good to know he’s still kicking around and relevant! I haven’t been up to date with the VK scene either although I have been kind of keeping up with J-pop and indie J-rock. I think VK in general is dwindling in popularity overseas.

However I have had my Favourites YouTube playlist playing for a couple of days and I finally hit the point of my VK phase. It’s good nostalgia.

Do please update us on how the concert goes! Austin is so lucky, a lot of Japanese artists seem to drop by over there.

@Edel, after he left PS Company (or fired? I forget) … I didn’t really keep up with him besides seeing some pics of his kids on his instagram and his role in Unbroken. VK isn’t what it used to be, there are still a few hidden gems out there though!! But I agree, I used to have a whole year lined up with concerts in the US and now not so much!

Yeah, I still love many older disbanded groups that still make me smile when I hear their music. Like Kagrra ;o;!!!

I’ll for sure post about it! The live is in April, can’t wait!

Sorry, Houstin. 😉 You have to excuse my poor knowledge of Texas geography, I see a Texan city and I think “oh, Austin.” That must be a pet peeve, right?

@Edel, It’s totally ok!! Austin is pretty awesome, and has a badass music scene! I am actually surprised he is coming to Dallas and Houston and not Austin! He came to Houston in 2009 or 2010 so who knows!

OMG! SO LUCKYYY!!! I’ve been a fan of meevers since HS and I wanted to see him so baaaaaadddd! But he’s not including my country on his tour list 🙁 Jrock’s fandom isn’t yet really a big hit here so there’s still no chance of seeing him. UNLESS I FOLLOW HIM! AHAHAHA! Lucky you!!!

Will you be blogging his concert? I’ll be looking forward to it! YAY! 😀

I hope you have a great time. It’s great that they are coming back and you can see them. I know what you mean about the LiveJournal days. It used to be so much fun making icons and choosing the right one for a post or comment! xD

@Kya, livejournal was so cool, with communities and customization. It was so far advanced before blogger and other sites with blogs started to pop up! I love having my own domain and wordpress but the communities were really nice!

I have not heard of Miyavi, and I never quite got into that kind of music but I know some people who did. Regardless, it’s interesting how sometimes we fall out of certain genres of music, or even forget that we loved certain bands, then come back to it and realise how much we love it. I used to be very much into metal before I met my fiancé, but he didn’t like that type of music and I tapered off a bit. It’s not that he made me stop listening to it, but together, we enjoy other kinds of music.

I remember the days we had LiveJournal and I can’t remember what else was even around at the time. I may have been so young back then, but blogs were still a new thing…

@Georgie, I never told any of my past boyfriends that I listened to vk or that on the side I would go to cons to interview them. I just didn’t think guys would understand or care. It wasn’t until I met my husband that he bought up L’arc~en~Ciel which made me sigh a relief that I could share this with him. Now that time has gone we grew into other genres etc…. just like you, he didn’t influence me to stop listening it is just that we move onto different stuff!

Ah, livejournal and their communities were amazing! I kinda miss it! I logged back into my lj and it is covered in ads :/ The service we sold to another company.

@Tara,X Japan is amazing!! Did you get to see their new documentary We Are X? Learned so much about their struggles, maybe because I was prego at the time but it made me super emotional! Glad they are still doing music together!!!

It sounds like you’re going to have a blast watching Miyavi perform :). Man, speaking of 2006-2012 reminds me of the good ol’ freewebs days. I’m actually ok with the times changing. We learn to adapt to new things and make the most out of it :)!

@Nancy, ohhhhh freewebs!! They were awesome until they started to use ads! I use to have My radio.blog hosted on freewebs! Did you ever have one of those embedded into your sites?! I also used a free service that gave access to cpanel with 2 whole gigs of ftp space!!! Those were the days!!!

I’m totally happy to have my domains to upload my blog! It’s just the old school community of early blogging. XD
