Geeky Pen Pals

Have you guys ever exchanged letters with a pen pal? My sister’s post about writing to a friend made me want to look for a new pen pal. I had a scrap book pen pal a few years ago and we became moms around the same time. We now keep up via social media so not much letter exchanging.

A few years ago I started a visual kei/jrock blog pal group on a websites I used to run. We had about 300 people signed up and I would have to figure out how to set people up by favorite groups and age. It was alot of work! I thought about starting something similar to that up again but with something more boarder like geek fandoms.

I went searching online and found a group like this already existed, and they had been around for awhile.

The site is called International Geek Girl Pen Pals Club or IGGPPC for short. I just signed up, and was recently paired with another girl. I’m also involved in a card swap with some fellow geeks!  I’m pretty excited to see how this goes, I might not always be able to write other ladies as often as I like but sending out happy mail will be awesome. I have also been working on making my own stationary. We’ll see how this goes! Do you guys send snail mail?

Edit: here are my first letters I sent off! I also included sailor scout charms!!!

Baby Shower

us

Our friends threw us a baby shower earlier this month! The baby’s room theme is Totoro and boy is it nice to have nerdy friends who totally understand us. First off, our friend Anthony designed and put together this amazing diaper cake. I didn’t even know what a diaper cake was and he created this thing of Totoro beauty!!!!

My pastry chef sister helped me make snacks and sweets for the event. Cakes, chocolate covered pretzels, cupcakes, and fruit cones.

PAX South

PAX South took forever to arrive but the weekend was super jam packed and went by too quickly!! I was looking forward to road tripping with Ginger and my dude! Actually, my husband had never been to San Antonio so I was excited for him to see The Alamo and Riverwalk. I booked a hotel near The Alamo so every morning we would walk past the monument.

The floor show was awesome! We had friends who worked on some games so it was awesome to see their booths! We also met Randy Pitchford (CEO of Gearbox)! We are huge Borderlands fans and Gearbox people were super awesome to talk to. I also got to finally meet up with Cat, she is also from Texas. Short gamers unite!!!!

Hello 2014!

New year = new chores! We’ve been spending time decorating, doing yard work and just organizing in general! I want to really start decorating our house – we don’t really have much furniture and all our rooms have become storage rooms – ooops! So, I have decided that my new years resolution is to be more organized! Not just with house stuff but I’ve been really bad about blogging so I want to really change that! I tend to gather lots of ideas and stories to blog about but when I get in front of my lappy I forget and my busy brain goes off topic.

My sisters bought me a new notebook for 2014. I will be carrying it everywhere! I also want to redo the front page of Mind-Speaks.com

1. My hubby and our friend Paul at a Houston Gaymers event. 2. Bravely Default demo done! I can’t wait for the full game! 3. Blue shiny nails. 4. Free People have the coolest packaging, this was their shopping bag! 5. BLUE DR. MARTENS! Totally a pain breaking them in but they are slowly starting to feel better. 6. Pokemon Plushies! Most of these were gifts we gave to friends for Christmas. I am glad we have so many gaming/pokemon friends!

OH, we’ve been taking Tomo outside! He loves pretending to be a wild kitty. Here is a video of him in action.
