Springtime and Mind-Speaks

Spring is totally in the air!! Even if Texas weather is still acting bipolar -_-; One day it is a lovely day, the next it freezing and gloomy outside. Which is probably why I am sick, bipolar weather is messing with my sinuses! Yesterday we went to the Houston Galleria and I noticed a store window design (Tory Burch storefront) looked familiar! My best friend Emily actually designed and constructed my wedding doorway! She did an amazing job!!! But it seems a window designer might have copied her style lol I took a picture and sent it to her and even she was shocked that the window display looked similar to hers. What do you think?

My wedding last year

Speaking of my wedding, I have gotten a few emails asking about how my invitations looked like. I have posted pics of all the pieces that I included in my invitations over here at my sister art blog! I also wanted to explain why I have a separate place to upload work at. Mind-Speaks is a group blog I own with my two sisters – Kim & Kat. We try to post monthly projects we have been working on.

I hope later this year to do a make over my other sites and get a bit more organized!! You can totally tell I am sick, I updated more than once over the weekend!!

Honeymoon : Disney World!

I haven’t really talked about my honeymoon, DISNEY WORLD! I have never ever been to Disney World or Land…we arrived in Orlando and the Mickey Magical Express greeted us and took us to our “home” for the week! We stayed at the lovely Animal Kingdom Lodge which was amazing – we had wild animals right outside our balcony!! We arrived around 8pm so we were hungry and beat. Right when you arrive to the hotel they give you your keys to Disney. They also ask you if there is a special occasion for the visit. Hell yes: Marriage and this is my first visit! And bamm they slap you with buttons!! Oh these buttons – if you wear these the staff are super friendly. Which brings me to the next bit. Our first morning at Disney.

I couldn’t sleep that night, I woke up at 4am. Showered, got ready and by 6am I was trying to make noise just so my husband could wake up. I was like a kid: excited, hyper and for some reason nervous!! I noticed we had a voice mail on the room phone from some special people! By 7am we were on our way. We waited for our bus to take us to the Magic Kingdom. As we were waiting there was a gentleman in a suit (manager of the hotel) – he greeted us with a “congrats” and also saw I had “first visit” button. I asked for suggestions on what to visit first at the Magic Kingdom and he proceeded to ask if we had tickets to the Not So Scary Halloween Party. Jody wanted to get them but they were pricey and we really couldn’t afford it. So he thought for a moment and took us back inside the hotel. He gave us free tickets to the event! “Disney’s wedding gift to the new couple!” – I immediately started crying and hugged him. He started to tear up and said that he wasn’t expecting such an emotional response. But seriously, as a little girl I wished and hoped to come here and had a lot of expectations about the park and even before we left the hotel we already felt the magic!

On our way to the Magic Kingdom – I based all my Magic Kingdom knowledge on an old vhs called Sing Along Songs – Disneyland Fun from 1989. The quote from me during this week was “JODY – just like my vhs!!!” Even when my sisters called I would tell them “Just like our VHS!!!!!” Oh yes we wore the Bride and Groom Mickey Ears Hats!!

I won’t go into every detail but in short – I cried….alot. I cried when I saw the castle up close, I cried when I walked on Main Street and when I took a picture by Walt Disney’s stature. I also stalked all the princesses I could to take a picture with them!! The Halloween event was breath taking!! Its after hours at the park – massive dance with the villains, trick or treat with characters, amazing parade with characters in costume and soooooo much candy! At the last day of our trip, Jody surprised me with a Lady (from Lady and the Tramp) plushie/pillow!! He got himself a Stitch one! What dude can go around parading with a Stitch plush? I am in love ;o;!!!

Okay so our honey moon was during Halloween and now we are going again this weekend! Why so soon? Jody’s oldest brother is getting married there! So we had so use some wedding money this time to go – but we are very excited! I really had no idea that after 27 years of never going to Disney that I would be going twice in such a short time! We have reservations at the Be Our Guest restaurant so we are excited!

I leave you with Stitch doing Gangnam Style. More random videos here.

My wedding pics!

God, I am so bad about updating – I am sure people (who aren’t added to my facebook, twitter or instagram) must have thought I died during my honeymoon. I am alive!! I just wasn’t prepared for how hectic life got during the holidays with both sides of the family!

Ok, review on my wedding. It was probably the most emotional I have ever been in my life. Everything from trying to write a note to my dude to read while he got ready, to waiting to go down the aisle with my dad. Really, there is no way to prepare yourself for the day – the only thing I wanted to make sure was that I wouldn’t get stressed out or panic if something went wrong. And yes, things don’t always go as planned. I forgot to bring my programs for the church, I forgot 2 jars of candy at our house for the candy bar but who cares. Little things didn’t bother me because I was just happy and nervous to see my dude.

Best decision ever was to hire a day of planner. Since my dad’s accident we had to really budget ourselves. Which wasn’t a big deal because we wanted the cheapest, most simple wedding ever!! Hell, my decor was all PAPER! XD Which was great! Although since the summer we were making pinwheels, pom poms and center pieces. But the only spurge was hiring our day of planner. She really was amazing – I am glad she understood our vision! Alright here are some pics of the reception so you can see our set up!

One more week…

In a week I will be a wife. Weirdddddd….. Actually more importantly – in exactly one week I will be on an airplane heading to the happiest place on earth – DISNEY WORLD!

I have never ever been to Disneyland or world so if you have any recommendations on what to do or see please give me some suggestions!! We are going to all of the parks (Magic Kingdom, Hollywood, Epicot, and Animal Kingdom) so I hope a week is enough time to see the most of Disney!!

We are ready – just finishing the last few touches. I didn’t know we needed to make programs for the church part pffffft jeeez so going to make those and finish my cake topper today!! We finished our 100 pinwheels for our guests! My dude – Jody had a younger sister who died when she was 13 months and when he was a kid he would always visit her grave and bring her a pinwheel. That has kinda become our theme. ;o;!!

1. Our 100 Pinwheels! 2. We made custom buttons for people to take home! 3. More records!! Zeppelin, Bowie, Beatles and The Who

If you have instagram please let me know!! You can find me under MIJA_VERA.

This will probably be my LAST post before I become a Robertson ;o;!!!! Thanks for all the love and support – I can’t express how super nervous and excited I am!!
